theCorporal is an exhibition of art and the interests of its contributors. it is based in Jacksonville, FL, but is proud to display the work of artists from across the country. on this website you will find information regarding the most recent developments of this endeavour. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NEWS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- June 14, 2008 Greetings all - it has been too long. Issue4 did not go off as planned, and so I have finally made a decision regarding how things are done around here. The submission process has now changed, so please go to the Submissions page to find out how you can get me your work for the next issue. I hope that this shift in responsibility will give everyone a greater sense of ownership and responsibility for theCorporal, and that it will jump-start the future of this publication. Thank you! -d ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- April 26, 2008 Just a quick note to let everyone know that issue3 has just been completed. Thanks to everyone who contributed - I think this is an interesting issue. Don't forget to check out the submissions page for information on issue4, and of course most importantly, read issue3! much love -dominique ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- March 26, 2008 I'm pleased to inform you that I have received a good number of submissions for issue3. It may be our best yet. My immediate goal is to decide on a topic for issue4 and get that up for you as quickly as possible. I'll leave plenty of time before the deadline. Meanwhile, for the locals, please don't forget about the gathering on April 5 at 8PM. I'll be sending out a reminder email soonest, and I hope to see you all there. Oh also, theCorporal is now on MySpace. I hesitated with this for a long time, but I think it is a good way to spread the word about what we are doing. Hopefully it will generate interest. Add us to your friends! www.myspace.com/thecorporaljournal Lastly, you may have seen that the new navigation bars (also known as photos of my friends) include a link to an "About" page. There's nothing on it yet, but I will get to that soon. Feel free to send suggestions. So - check out the submissions page soon (I'll try to get that topic up today), and watch out for the release of issue3 in the next couple of weeks. Thanks again for your efforts - I hope you are all excited at the progress we've made! -dominique ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- March 11, 2008 The deadline for issue3 is fast approaching (this Saturday, people!) and things are going very well so far. In a new twist, I have actually received submissions from 3 people ahead of the deadline, and the best part is that they are all new contributors! I'm so thrilled, and hope to see this trend continue. A link to our submissions page has been added to a website called The Ivory Tower, which is a collection of links to various writers' markets. This website is a really great resource for writers and I hope you all will check it out. I also hope that our inclusion on this list will generate additional submissions from writers for future issues. Go to the Links page and check this site out. Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been keeping up with the JACKSONVILLE events page. Although, my better guess is that you have not noticed because no one has mentioned it and the reason I quit is because it's a lot of work and I don't think people use the thing. SO - if you want to see that page get updated again, please let me know. I'm glad to do it if people have use for it. Otherwise, no biggie. For those of you located in Jacksonville, in case you haven't been checking your email, we're having a gathering for the local contributors on Saturday, April 5, at 8 PM. Contact me for more info. Look for a slight redesign to the site in the near future. All my love and undying adoration, -dominique -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- February 3, 2008 Let me apologize for taking so long to put the second issue up. Unfortunately I spent a good deal of time since the deadline being too sick to worry with such things. Feeling much better now, thanks. In any case, I am very glad to tell you that issue2: nature is officially online. For anyone who didn't notice, I did post the topic for issue3 about a month ago. So... if this is the first you're hearing of that, you're probably a little behind. ;) Other news: The UNF Art Gallery is initiating a monthly series of sound art performance events, starting this Thursday at 7PM. The events are free and located in UNF's Founder's Hall (bldg 2). To find out about this month's event, check out the advertisement here. I believe I said everything else I wanted to say within the issue. So hit it up. Hoorah. -dominique -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- January 7, 2008 Hi everyone - Happy New Year! Of course you know that the second submission deadline passed last Tuesday. I did receive a few more submissions and was very pleased for it. So, over the next couple of weeks I'll be putting everything together and publishing the second issue of theCorporal! I'm excited. :) In the meantime, I want to give everyone plenty of time to prepare for issue3. Please see the submissions page for more detail. In news that people don't care about, I have finally ordered a replacement power supply for my external harddrive, which should allow me to move enough shit off my laptop to make room for the Adobe CS3 software that has been sitting in my room for months. That will allow me to do all of this work from my home computer, thereby decreasing my dependence on the awful PC... Thank you and good night. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
